What's going to be on your list?

Had the chance to watch this movie last night and I must say, I love its message. "Find the joy in your life."

I kept crying during the movie, because I remembered my parents. They're not super old, but they're both sick. And I couldn't help but think, would they have made their own bucket lists? Have they found the joy in their life?

And all the more I want to find the joy in my life. There is more to life than the occasional beach trip, or potato chips and a big jar of Nutella. Right?

Here's to a (not-so-long) journey of finding true happiness.

"You measure yourself by the people who measure themselves by you." —Carter Chambers

"The Next Ten Minutes"

On our way home from the beach last Sunday, Jaime played a few songs from his iPod. He was "educating" Kaich in Broadway musicals. I liked this song that he played from the musical, The Last Five Years.

"The basic premise of the show is that Jamie and Catherine each tell their side of the story: Jamie from the beginning until the end, Cathy at the end, going back to the beginning."

This song is the only moment in the show when they're together, at the same point in time.

Will you share your life with me

For the next ten lifetimes?

Forever, Jamie

For a million summers

Till the world explodes
Till there's no one left
Who has ever known us apart

Lazy Days

I love lounging around in my daster on Saturday mornings. Especially when nobody's home. Ha ha!

Today's Playlist includes:
  1. Alicia Keys feat. Jimmy Cozier - Mr. Man
  2. Kelis feat. Raphael Saadiq - Glow
  3. The Roots - What They Do
  4. Dwele - Truth
  5. Musiq Soulchild - Whoknows

I like it when my brothers are out because no one will look at me weird when I'm grooving to the music. d:

Okay, stop looking at me like that. Heh.

In other sunny news, I'm so excited for tomorrow! My first real trip to the beach this year (shoots don't count, because it's not like we actually go to the beach, haha). Who cares if it's only for a day. Can't wait to bake under the sun and get rid of my pasty look. Ha ha!

Alone In A World Of Heartbreakers

Spoken like a true cynic, I know, but when you hear about couples fighting, arguing, breaking up, etcetera etcetera, you can't help but ask yourself, is it really worth it?

Maan was convincing me late this afternoon that The One will steal my heart away when I least expect it. I told her that it would be one amazing feat, because I'm already so jaded. Yeah, sure, I'm happy for my friends who are happy and in love and raring to get married. But me? I am fine not being wooed, not being fawned over. Sure, being in love is something I miss—especially all the thrilling parts of it (mush and cheese included)— but part of being in a relationship is the awful truth that you will get hurt or you will hurt someone one time or another. The question is, are you two strong enough to still be together despite the hurt you cause each other? In the first place, why would you even hurt each other?

I can wax poetic about lost loves and painful breakups, but I'll spare you because I'm... nice. d: I guess all I'm trying to say is, I'd rather be single than settle for anything less than what I deserve. I want the works: fluttering in my heart, dancing-on-air happiness, the inexplicable smile, all gestures (grand and small), tears (mostly of joy), and the promise of forever. Deep down inside me, there's still some hopeless romantic who writes letters to The One (she hasn't met yet, haha).

Haha, I believe this entry is three weeks too early! Geez. So I guess I'm no cynic, after all. d:

Run lola run

Coming home from a relatively light day at work (considering there was a meeting today), I chanced upon my mom and brother in the kitchen. My brother randomly told me, "Jogging tayo." I, in my after-work daze, just stared at him blankly. After five seconds, I finally asked, "Now na?"

So I'm going running with my brother tomorrow at 6. Kutob mo, napansin niyang tumataba na ako? :P Actually, I'm really jealous of his weight loss. Can you believe that we wear the same size of pants now? Kainis.

Let's hope I don't get lazy when I wake up. I'm usually up at 6 or 7, but I just stay in bed and watch reruns of The Daily 10 or some reality show on ETC. Ha ha! And I wonder why I've been getting fat. d:

Petty Peeves

Slight kababawan lang `to pero nasa mood ako maglista so...

  1. Girls who giggle and ask for my brother on the phone. STOP CALLING! >_<
  2. People I don't know who call me "Mace." Hello, close ba tayo?
  3. People who misspell my name. M-A-C-Y. I went to Dairy Queen one time and my receipt read, "MESY." It was funny on paper, but even funnier when they called out my name when my Blizzard was ready. So now, I always flash them my ID so they spell my name right.
  4. Pimples that pop up after my period. Aren't they supposed to be gone along with your period? Harrr. I am no longer a teen!
  5. Paasa blow dried hair. Haircuts always look so much better when you've come right out of the salon. d: Sana meron akong personal na taga-blow dry. Ha ha! JOKE LANG.

Yun lang. Bow.

Numbing Down of Love

In the past month, I made a deal with myself that I would try to be the better person. Hurtful words will hit me like closed fists and I will not fight back. Some words are said partly because of frustration and partly because they're tired. Tired of feeling helpless, tired of feeling sick. And though it hurts that things you've done before don't seem to matter, because they decide that today "you are ungrateful," I will take it in stride. I will ignore the hurtful words, because I will make myself believe that they weren't really meant to hurt me.

In the past nine years since my father had a stroke, you cannot tell me that I have learned nothing. And today, when I wake up in the morning to cook your breakfast of oatmeal, I will forget that you told me yesterday how I did not care and how you had to beg for me to help you. I will forget the hurtful words because I tell myself that you didn't mean them. It's not that I don't care. I do. I will ignore the hurtful words, because I love you.

Should I Dare?

What do you think? I haven't touched my hair since my birthday. I have an appointment for a haircut tomorrow afternoon. I've wanted to get my hair cut like Shannyn Sossamon's, but it was always too short. So after the Pob, my Katie Holmes phase, this is my next hair obsession. Ha ha!

Sweeney Todd
They all deserve to die
Tell you why, Mrs. Lovett, tell you why
Because in all of the whole human race Mrs. Lovett there are two kinds of men and only two
There's the one staying put in his proper place and one with his foot in the other one's face
Look at me, Mrs Lovett! Look at you!
No, we all deserve to die
Even you, Mrs Lovett, even I!

I absolutely loved it! It was deliciously morbid and sick. Ha ha! I am no movie critic, so I will leave the review to people who know how to do it. I will say, though, that I loooove Johnny Depp even with dirty teeth and bloodied clothes. ILU, Mr. Depp! And I love this movie if only for their cute bathing suits on the beach and Mrs. Lovett's funny sunglasses that looked like dark-lensed spectacles.

A word of caution, though. I rarely remember any of my dreams so I was surprised when in the middle of the night (after the movie), I woke up startled. I had my first lucid nightmare. I swear to God, I thought there was someone in my room with a slit neck, poking my stomach to wake me up. What the eff?

"The Beauty In Ugly"

My favorite fireworks shot from the UP Centennial Kickoff

I guess the thing about me is I don't give up that easily. I see the glass as half-full, most of the time. I try my best to see the beauty in something that seems so un-pretty. Maybe because sometimes, I'm hoping that people would see me that way, too.

* * *

Speaking of "beauty in ugly," today is the end of the (according to Mr. Voice-Over for CTV and The CW) "two best episodes ever!" Since it seems like it'll be a while `til we get new episodes of our fave shows, I'm going to start watching series that I haven't followed over the years. I borrowed my friend's Ugly Betty Season 1 DVD today. I saw The World of Ugly Betty on Star World over the weekend and couldn't stop laughing. I've always watched Ugly Betty whenever I caught it on TV, but never really followed it faithfully. And now, since I won't be watching any of my series (until the writers strike is over, I guess?), I'll have time to watch past seasons! Woot!

I ♥ Music!

I've only been to a few concerts (the very first one being Ang Gimik The Concert in Ateneo back in grade school, heh). This year, there are rumors (some true) of foreign artists flying over for concerts. The ones I actually want to catch are (in no particular order):

  1. Spice Girls!!!
  2. Justin Timberlake ♥ (I'm watching his FutureLove/SexSounds concert on Velvet right now—may pakinabang din naman pala ang Velvet, haha—and I am SO excited to watch him live. Time to save up! It'll be my birthday gift to myself. Ha ha! Unless someone gives it to me, instead. d:)
  3. Mae ♥
  4. Colbie Caillat (I want to hear "Magic" live!)
  5. Maroon 5 (I will cry and cry because their songs are so weepy, huhuhu - "Nothing Lasts Forever," "Better We Break," "Back At Your Door.")

Five out of (at least) twelve concerts this year isn't so bad, right? But my friend said U2 and Madonna are also coming. What the. How can you not watch them? Ha ha! Good luck sa bank account. d:

In semi-related music news, I've only recently obsessed about my iTunes library. Because.. (1) I've always used WinAmp to listen to music; (2) I've never owned an iPod `til now that Mikko gave me one. So, I've spent the past two weekends making playlists and adding album art to all the songs in my library (so tiring!). My next project is to copy my friend Mimi and add screen caps of Gossip Girl to the songs in each episode. Ha ha! Aylavet. It's the best pastime EVER.
