Currently: Watching

I love television. I can spend an entire weekend binge-watching one season and be completely satisfied with how I spent my time. Now that I spend most days at home, I try not to overdo it.

Not too long ago, some of my friends and I watched Making a Murderer and got a little too deep into it (reading articles about the case, coming up with our own on theories if Steven Avery is guilty or not, and obsessing hard over figuring out whodunnit). This spiraled into checking out true crime docus like The Keepers and series like The Night Of.

Just recently finished watching David Fincher's Mindhunter (also on Netflix), which was so good. By the end of it, I felt as if someone was clenching my heart in their fist.

Now I'm starting another series sort of in the same vein as all of these shows I've mentioned. Alias Grace is based on the book of the same title by Margaret Atwood. I thoroughly enjoyed Hulu's adaptation of The Handmaid's Tale (which I watched while I was reading the book—making everything twice as painful) so when I saw the trailer for this last month, I knew I had to watch it. Since it's a six-hour miniseries, I'm trying not to binge-watch it.

Wishful Wednesday
Bummed that Passion Pit's concert is canceled. But hope Michael Angelakos gets well soonest so I can get a chance to see them perform live!



Thoughtful Thursday
Got hooked on this new series from Lifetime. The premise: producer on a show much like The Bachelor goes cray at the end of the previous season. Now she's back to manipulate contestants and do whatever it takes to get the best finale ever. Just how far is she going to go? My first job ever was a print researcher of a now-defunct news comedy show. I have to say that lines are really blurred when it comes to job descriptions and responsibilities. I have no regrets, but I can't imagine working in TV production EVER AGAIN. I'm not built for it, but very grateful for everything it taught me in the lone year I stayed in the industry. Might be awesome to watch, but definitely did not enjoy it enough to stay in that job. :P

Fashion Friday
I've always been comfort over fashion. I tried to do the heels thing, but my toes wouldn't forgive me for it. HAHA! Been living in flats these days with these babies as my current fave. Bought a ticket to the 1989 show in SG on impulse, and I can't wait till then!

What's Your Type?

I've been home for four days and except for the dreadful heat, I'm actually enjoying all this free time. Since it's just me and the boys at home, we've been rotating household chores. Strangely enough, I think I'm getting the hang of washing dishes. Haha!

I've been binge-watching different series and catching up on ones I haven't seen yet. My new kacheapan fave? The Royals. LOL think of it as a cross between Gossip Girl and Reign (except set in present time). I'm also really liking iZombie a lot. Patty was right when she said it was kind of like Veronica Mars (Rob Thomas is the executive producer) and Dead Like Me (Bryan Fuller, I love you!). After finishing Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt in half a day, I'm trying to finish Gotham—although it's more background music to me now than anything. |:

Here's what I've been busy with the past few days. Practicing my watercolor (as you can see with my new header), brush lettering, and calligraphy. Savoring all this free time because it's back to work tomorrow!

Been spending a few minutes between work, perusing beautiful blogs that make me miss writing here. Sometimes, there's just too much to do that I just completely forget that I have this little space online that has nothing to do with my everyday job. Allow me to restart this—again.

{ 01 Living in my black faux croc skin slip-ons lately, Topshop; 02 I've been a little lazy in the morning so I just brush on a bit of this True Match skin idealizing BB cream under my eyes and all over my eyes before doing a simple cat eye. It's a shade lighter than my "true match" so it kind of works like a concealer and highlighter for me, L'Oreal; 03 I know the rainy season is here, but I love the subtle glow I get from sweeping a bit of this blush on my cheeks, Happy Skin; 04 I can't wait for Jason Mraz's new record to come out next month! So happy he uploaded a few tracks, Spotify; 05 Starting a new series with one of my faves: Lee Pace, Halt and Catch Fire }

The Good Things

I'm almost done with the project I'm doing with Mikko and Alessa. It's taking much longer than we planned, but hopefully it'll come out perfect. (: I'm pretty excited to see the finished product! I'll make sure to post something when everything is finally in order.

The Candy Girls are going on a trip this coming week! We'll be missing two and half days of work (which I'm dreading!!! oh wait, only good things pala in this post) and basking in sun and love all the way in Ilocos. (: I love weddings! Can't wait to see everyone dolled up.

A new The Vampire Diaries episode, which I didn't get to watch until this morning. Nothing exciting, but TV makes me happy.

A quiet Saturday at home. I'm still not better, but hopefully an entire day at home will cure me. An unusual working Sunday will happen, but at least it'll be near my house. (Trying my best to not complain about everything!) Hopefully I'll still catch my relatives who are heading over for lunch tomorrow.

On Monday, I'm going to be all about the sunshine again. Promise.

Songs I Like: "Smooth Criminal" on Glee

I've always loved Naya Rivera's voice (absolutely loved her performance of "Valerie") and when my friend D-an showed me a video of her performance of "Smooth Criminal" on today's episode of Glee, I was floored! Kaka-tense yung nag-cecello. Haha!

Glee airs on ETC every Wednesday at 4pm with replays at 9pm.

Meet the Women of the Future

I love anything that's set in the '60s. I sometimes kind of wish I was born then. I love the clothes, the hair, the makeup. Which is why it was no surprise that I instantly fell in love with the new show Pan Am.

It sort of reminds me of Mad Men, but with a bit of espionage on the side. I love that they're always in some new place in every episode. My favorite character is Colette. My heart broke for her in last week's episode—especially that scene when she was trying to make her way up the stairs.

I've never had dreams of becoming a flight attendant, but if I were living in the '60s, I probably would have!

There are tons to be thankful for these days. And I've missed making lists like this!




♥ Shopping with fake money. I got the top I've been looking at for months plus a pretty new dress for technically just P45.
♥ Leaving my camera at home and dancing the night away. I usually bring my cam to concerts so I can take photos and videos, but this time around, I decided to just leave it. I didn't realize how much fun it is to be in nosebleed seats. We had our own party there.
♥ Getting free tickets and giving them away. It turns out I was given tickets to Cirque's show last night, but I gave them to Mimi and Dyan. (: Spreading the magic!
♥ Catching a pilot. Saw the first episode of Teen Wolf yesterday. My friends have been telling me to watch it already, but I haven't had a chance to. Now, I can catch it on TV. It premieres on July 17, 9pm on AXN.
♥ Chocolate! I got myself another Cuadro from Risa Fine Bespoke Chocolates. I've gotten Tiramissyou twice already and I'm thinking of getting assorted truffles next. I also got a pack of KitKat Mint from the grocery the other day. They are delicious!
♥ Letters. Got a surprise from Em through my brother. Loved the retro stickers and stationery!
♥ Things from my mom. Funny how almost 3 and a half years have passed and she still continues to "give" me stuff. I found a black sheer maxi skirt in my closet with tags that have yellowed from age. My non-fancy jewelry are all courtesy of her. Bringing them out reminds me of our afternoons together, visiting the Asedillos and picking out charms for my bracelet.

I guess the thing about me is I don't give up that easily. I see the glass as half-full, most of the time. I try my best to see the beauty in something that seems so un-pretty. Maybe because sometimes, I'm hoping that people would see me that way, too.

Speaking of "beauty in ugly," today is the end of the (according to Mr. Voice-Over for CTV and The CW) "two best episodes ever!" Since it seems like it'll be a while `til we get new episodes of our fave shows, I'm going to start watching series that I haven't followed over the years. I borrowed my friend's Ugly Betty Season 1 DVD today. I saw The World of Ugly Betty on Star World over the weekend and couldn't stop laughing. I've always watched Ugly Betty whenever I caught it on TV, but never really followed it faithfully. And now, since I won't be watching any of my series (until the writers strike is over, I guess?), I'll have time to watch past seasons! Woot!

Oh, Pushing Daisies, how do I love thee? Let me count the ways..

1. Ned, the piemaker, and his luscious pies.
   
2. Chuck's pretty dresses and color-coded ensembles. I ♥ them!
   
3. Emerson "Pooh" Cod's knitting and "Oh, hell no!" (I couldn't stop LOL-ing when he was calling Olive's money in Episode 5. Ha ha!)
   
4. Olive Snook who is all kinds of adorable and her awesome singing voice. Episode 5's jumping on the bed scene is made of WIN!
   
5. Jim Dale's narration. It's like hearing a storybook being read out loud.
   
6. Young Ned and his hair. I love that it looks like a bowl was put over his head and the scissors just traced around the edge. Haha!
   
7. The many variations of Ned/Chuck touching. Bee suits FTW!
   
8. Random details like figurines of "see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil" monkeys.
   
9. The quirky aunts Lily and Vivian who get high on homeopathic pies.
   
10. The unbelievable colors. I love that they're so bright and cheery even if every episode is all about, well, death. And life. And yeah, death again. Haha!

Why don't they show this series in the Philippines!? My hard drive is in dire need of resuscitation! Ha ha! I am down to my last 2GB. Yikes.

As you might have already noticed, I am obsessed with TV series these days. I felt like I was going through some sort of withdrawal last night when I realized none of my shows (haha, "my," like I own them) were up for download yet. (But I just checked now, and Chuck is already available! Whee!)

So guess what I'm obsessing about? Who, rather. Kristin Chenoweth! I heart her. She is all kinds of awesome. Thank goodness for Pushing Daisies or else I would've never known about her. Okay, maybe not. She's Glinda in Wicked, and apparently, my friend has already sent 2 of her songs from the play way before. Ha ha!

Another new series to add to my growing list of downloadables. I love it. It's such a charming show. And I love the narration. I love that he makes pies. I love that his first kiss isn't pretty at first look, but beautiful by the end of the pilot. ♥ Wait for the scene when they "hold hands."

03. I download songs from Multiply using Candy's account so that my own account won't show up on the person's stats. Hahaha!
04. When I remember, I do "wall push-ups." I don't know how else to call it but it's like a push-up except you do it against the wall. Haha, I particularly do this against the bathroom wall before taking a bath. Kadiri, noh? d: My arms are still fat so that means I always forget. Haha!
05. I say too much on my countless blogs. But hey, you knew that already. Haha, why do I love exposing myself to the world? I don't know, either.
06. My all-time favorite cereal is Frosties. Not Cocoa Puffs, not Rice Krispies, not plain cornflakes. I like my cereal sweet. (:
07. (Don't get mad.) I'm not very fond of people visiting my site just because I'm my brother's sister. I've worked so hard to not be his shadow so you know, there are times when I'd rather you send your comments to him, not me. I love him, though, don't get me wrong. (; It's just this is my site, so let's talk about me. Okay? Haha!
08. I had a "non-relationship" with someone from work (past or present, who knows? hahaha!). When I think about it now, I wish it never happened. I hope he reads this. Or someone who knows him does and sends the message.

It seems weird that I am posting this "tell-all" (not quite all, with just eight secrets) on a public blog. Haha! Especially one that my family reads. d: But what the heck, they're bound to find out sooner or later, right?
