Top 10 John Mayer Songs, Go!
In about a month's time, John Mayer is going to play a show here in Manila. And 4 studio albums, 3 live albums, and 2 EPs later, I suddenly started listening to all the songs I have of his in my iTunes library.
I realize that I like a lot of his old stuff especially the live versions (remember Audiogalaxy?). Love the little snippets of his spiels onstage and the covers that he does before breaking into "No Such Thing" or "Love Song For No One."
Here's an attempt to short list my favorites to 10. In no particular order:
What's your Top 10? (:

Here's an attempt to short list my favorites to 10. In no particular order:
- "Neon"
The very first song I heard. My brother made me listen to it. A trail of ruby red and diamond white is still one of my favorite lines from a song. It sounds so pretty. - "Daughters"
I've always loved this song (as I am an only daughter) but it took on a different meaning for me when I lost my mom two years ago. I think if I hear this live, I might lose it. O: (Also, it's probably the only song I really like on Heavier Things.) - "Comfortable"
I think what I like about his songs is how they can be so personal, almost like they were written for you. I remember hearing this song for the first time thinking I would love for someone to say these things to me. - "Why Did You Mess With Forever"
I have one more thing to ask,
Was it worth the price you paid
For my never coming back?
Why did you mess with forever? - "City Love"
And I can't remember life
Before her name - "Love Song For No One"
Who doesn't like this song? Theme song of all the single people waiting in the world for their other half. Hurry up and get here. - "Sucker"
And there could be no other way
'Cause you're so, you're so lame
Your tired words are all, they're all the same
If I would walk, I'd surely walk away
If I wasn't such a sucker for you - "Stop This Train"
Listened to this song a lot the year I turned 25. I was feeling depressed and unaccomplished and I actually convinced myself that I was only good at being young. I have since realized that I don't need to pressure myself because we all grow up at our own pace. - "Friends, Lovers, Or Nothing"
I may have made a lot of mistakes in relationships, but I don't regret any of them. If I learned anything though, it's to never settle. Because anything other than yes is no, anything other than stay is go, anything less than "I love you" is lying. - "Back To You"
I love it when he sings I'm swimming in a sea of faces trying to find my way to you but it's no use in a crowded room where everyone wants you.
What's your Top 10? (:

Destination: beautiful
Who would have thought that after almost two years after this, I will actually get to see MAE perform live?

Me with Jacob Marshall, MAE's drummer.
So what if they're playing just five songs tonight? So what if they're not even the main act? My heart is really dancing on air because never in a million years did I think I'd get to see one of my favorite bands live, much less meet them. Like they said at the press con yesterday, it's been a long time coming. I'm sure there are lots of fans who are thrilled that they're finally here. I know I am. It's like college all over again. (:
Here's hoping they play "Embers and Envelopes" tonight. I think I might cry.
Happy birthday to me. (:

(insert girly squeals here)
One of my fave cupcake bloggers left a comment on my cupcake entry over at the Candy blog!!!
Nothing like an upper to get me started this morning. I'm supposed to be ready to leave in less than an hour because we have to go shopping for ingredients. Aside from my cupcakes, we're also making lasagna for lunch.
We haven't had lasagna since New Year. My mom taught me to make bechamel sauce and how to assemble the layers. Here's to hoping make it just like hers.

Together we will find a hideaway
Not a lot of people know this but when I was much younger, I used to take voice lessons. After taking piano for how-many-years, I decided to step up and try singing. Haha! I was obsessed with Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid, and Aladdin so a lot of my pieces were from the OST of those movies.
My first real lesson, though, was with Ed Manguiat of the UP Singing Ambassadors. My mom would take me and Gen (my tita's niece but not related at all to me) to sir Ed's house and we would learn songs like "Dahil Sa Isang Bulaklak." Yes, me with my tiny eight-year-old voice. I enjoyed singing and I loved the feeling of butterflies in my stomach every time I stepped into that house.
I eventually stopped but soon after, when I got a new piano teacher, she said that she also taught voice. So every week, after playing piano, we would take my notebook and list down a set of songs I'd sing for her. One that I remember is "Edelweiss." Haha! Frustated cast member of the Sound of Music, anyone?
Nowadays, my singing is confined within the four walls of my shower stall where I belt out the latest hits. d: So I'm always thrilled to watch friends who are actually singing—up there on stage and not just in their bathrooms. Haha!
I've been listening to this one song that my friend sent me and I can't send to anyone else. Haha! I love it. I used to dream of being the next Lea Salonga but I'm quite happy with just being a fan of the next big thing. (:
